This course is an overview to gastrointestinal health and symptoms in athletes. Key sections explain the impact of exercise on our gut, some key nutrition factors that may influence athletes and practical insights into how to assess or monitor interventions for overall performance.
Sarah will take you through the basics of digestion and absorption of food and then how this is changed by exercise. Expanding on the role of exercise in gastrointestinal symptoms, Sarah will discuss some of the evidence behind different dietary strategies that can help athletes to manage or minimise the risk of gastrointestinal symptoms influence sports performance.
Upon completion, you will have an insight into the complex factors that influence gut health around exercise, and an ability to help guide athletes around their own management or referral to nutrition professionals.
