The mini course will aim to give you an introductory insight into the concept of energy balance. It will review energy intake and energy expenditure and aims to develop your understanding of how we predict energy expenditure and the nuances of its application. There will be some opportunity to apply these concepts to case studies.
This course will explore:
- Energy balance and positive/negative balance
- Basal Metabolic Rate
- NEAT, TEF, and PA
- How to predict energy expenditure
- In course activity to determine various expenditures based on differing scenarios
By the end of this course you will have a deep understanding of what energy balance is and how to best work with a variety of athletes and population to know what energy is needed on an individual basis.
