Within this course you will learn about cardiovascular disease and the main drivers of how it is caused. You will learn about different nutritional factors that influence our cardiovascular risk. Alongside this you will learn about how nutrition can also improve our cardiovascular health. We will also explore exercise and how we can make small changes to improve our health in our everyday lives, as simple as breaking up sitting time. Throughout the course we will cover the following:
- What cardiovascular disease is and the incidence and prevalence rates
- Key contributors to the onset of cardiovascular disease and how nutrition influences risk
- How nutrition and our diets can positively influence risk, focusing on dietary approaches within this video
- How specific compounds, e.g., phytochemicals, can be beneficial for our cardiovascular health and the current evidence base
- How exercise can be incorporated into our lives in simple ways to reduce our risk
Upon completion of the course, you will have gained an appreciation of the breadth of cardiovascular disease and the nuance surrounding risk. You will also gain an understanding of the complex role our diet can play in our health and how small changes can offer significant benefits.
